1) So Hollywood offered $1B to actors before strike?

According to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), major film and television studios offered Hollywood actors more than $1 billion in higher compensation and enhanced benefits before the SAG-AFTRA union called a strike last week.

2) Meta and Microsoft opens AI model to commercial use.

Meta (META.O) released a commercial version of its open-source artificial intelligence model Llama today, giving start-ups and other businesses a powerful free-of-charge alternative to pricey proprietary models sold by OpenAI and Google.

The new version of the model, called Llama 2, will be distributed by Microsoft (MSFT.O) through its Azure cloud service and will run on the Windows operating system.

3) UN to host first ever AI talks 🌎
The UN’s Security Council will host its first ever talks addressing the potential threats AI poses to global security and peace today (July 18), reports Reuters.

Britain will be leading the UN Security Council this month and is seeking a global leadership role in AI regulation.
